Purposeful Training

There are few better feelings than setting a PR; it is incredibly fulfilling knowing you pushed yourself further or faster than you've ever gone before. But there is a fine line between pushing yourself and pushing yourself over the edge. Athletes that chase PR after PR usually wind up injured or at a plateau. Once you reach that point, it can be tough to breakthrough, and typically requires a more carefully engineered approach. Endurance sports are filled with highs and lows, and as sweet at the highs can be, the lows are incredibly challenging both mentally and physically. This plan is developed for the athlete chasing the highs and is designed to be more of an individualized approach to decrease the burnout rate and focus on integrating injury proofing techniques into everyday life. 

Who is this plan for?

This plan is built for athletes with the following characteristics:

  • All levels of athletes, but typically those looking to set PR's or challenge themselves over new distances on a fairly regular basis

  • Athletes who require a higher level of individualization due to their lifestyle and/or unique training background (injuries, coming from other sports, etc.)

  • Athletes that have a mild fluctuation in their training availability 

  • Athletes who want to push themselves while fortifying themselves against injury

Plan Structure

Welcome Call - Establish goals, standards, and expectations for the athlete-coach relationship.

Plan Development - Your Annual Training Plan is structured with regards to: 

  • Upcoming Races with a focus on your A Race

  • Previous training and ability level

  • Lifestyle integration and training enjoyment

  • Functional Strength and Sport Specificity

  • Your Individual Intensity Zones (HR, RPE, & Power)

Training plans will be updated bi-weekly to reflect:

  •  Quantitative feedback measured through TrainingPeaks (Training Stress, Fatigue, and Fitness) 

  • Qualitative feedback in the Weekly Consultations and post-workout notes 

+ Race Planning and Strategy Sessions within 2 weeks of Key Races

Communication - The primary means of communication are:

  • TrainingPeaks Premium Account (included in cost)

    • Online + application access

    • Daily emails with workouts and objectives

  • 15 min Weekly Consultations + 1 Monthly 30 min Full Overview

    • Review last week's training and upcoming weeks training

    • Review previous month's training, progress towards goals, fill out monthly assessment

  • Unlimited Email and Text

  • Submit questions for answer in a blog post or podcast (your fellow teammates may have the same questions!)
