Purposeful Training

Endurance sports are some of the most rewarding ways to spend our time, but they can also be the most challenging. The problem that most athletes run into is that they follow a cookie-cutter approach, when in reality their training should reflect their individual abilities and time constraints. While there are common threads among top performers, how those athletes weave those aspects into their training and into their lifestyles often looks completely different, so why should the foundational athlete be any different? 

Who is this plan for?

This plan is built for athletes with the following characteristics:

  • All levels of athletes, but most often those looking to make the jump from a 5k here-and-there to a lifestyle athlete

  • Athletes who want guidance but don't need daily feedback or accountability

  • Athletes that have consistent training availability 

  • Athletes who want to train hard but also develop a positive, enjoyable relationship with endurance sports

Plan Structure

Welcome Call - Establish goals, standards, and expectations for the athlete-coach relationship. 

Plan Development - Your Annual Training Plan is structured with regards to: 

  • Upcoming Races with a focus on your A Race

  • Previous training and ability level

  • Lifestyle integration and training enjoyment

  • Functional Strength and Sport Specificity

  • Your Individual Intensity Zones (HR, RPE, & Power)

Training plans will be updated bi-weekly to reflect:

  •  Quantitative feedback measured through TrainingPeaks (Training Stress, Fatigue, and Fitness) 

  • Qualitative feedback in the Weekly Consultations and post-workout notes 

Communication - The primary means of communication are:

  • TrainingPeaks Basic Account 

    • Online + application access

    • Daily emails with workouts and objectives

  • 15 min Weekly Consultations

    • Review last week's training and upcoming weeks training

  • Unlimited Email and Text 

  • Submit questions for answer in a blog post or podcast (your fellow athletes may have the same questions)
